Indoor/Outdoor Surface
Modular polypropylene tiles used for quick-install outdoor and indoor courts with drainage and easy replacement.
Polypropylene (PP) interlocking tiles are modular, clip-together sports flooring panels used for basketball, badminton, volleyball, multi-sport courts, and children's play areas. Each tile is a rigid plastic panel with a raised grid pattern on the playing surface and a void structure underneath that allows drainage, airflow, and slight cushioning.
PP tiles are the fastest and most reversible sports surface option — they can be installed and removed without adhesive, tools, or specialist labour. This makes them ideal for temporary courts, rooftop installations, multi-purpose halls where the court layout changes frequently, and locations where the surface may need to be shifted in the future.
In India, PP interlocking tiles are popular for school multi-sport courts, rooftop basketball courts, temporary tournament venues, and housing society play areas. They are one of the most affordable hard-court sports surfaces for outdoor use.

Yes — PP tiles are widely used for outdoor school and housing society basketball courts in India. They handle India's climate well (heat, monsoon, UV) with UV-stabilised grades. The surface provides acceptable ball bounce for recreational and training play. For FIBA-certified competition, acrylic hard court is required. PP tiles are a cost-effective alternative for recreational and institutional use.
PP tiles can be used for recreational badminton in halls where a permanent surface is not feasible. However, for serious training and club use, PVC vinyl or PU flooring is strongly recommended — these provide better shock absorption and a more consistent playing surface. PP tiles can feel hard and slippery during quick directional changes in badminton.
A full basketball court (28m × 15m = 420 sqm) requires approximately 4,650–4,700 tiles of 30cm × 30cm size. In practice, add 5–10% for cuts and wastage at the edges. Many suppliers sell PP tiles in packs covering 5–10 sqm, so calculate your total area and divide accordingly.
PP tiles are one of the best options for rooftop sports courts because of their light weight (2–4 kg/sqm vs 25–40 kg/sqm for concrete-based surfaces). The void structure also reduces the acoustic impact on the floor below. A structural engineer should assess the roof load capacity before any sports court installation on a rooftop.
Sweep the surface weekly to remove debris that accumulates in the grid pattern. Quarterly pressure washing removes embedded dirt and algae (common in Indian monsoon climates). Individual cracked or discoloured tiles can be popped out and replaced with new tiles. No sealant, paint, or polish is required.
